David Darmadi was born on December 7, 1987 in Padang. He has been studying at Indonesia Arts Institute Padang Panjang since 2007 and was the founder of sarueh Padang Panjang, a community engaged in the study of film, video, media, and community empowerment. He began writing in the journal of akumassa.org in February 2009. In early 2011 he attended the 24th Images Festival in Toronto, Canada, as a representative of Akumassa program that exhibited in Toronto Free Gallery. As of May 2011, together with sarueh Padang Panjang, he developed rekamkita Project as a video database center of West Sumatera and journal of visual studies that is focused on photograph, film, video at visualreteks.wordpress.com. In October 2011, he was one of the artists invited to OK.Video FLESH 5th Jakarta International Video Festival.
